To sum up this past week in one word: Wonderful.
I will start with last Thursday. Thursday I went down with Skot to New Orleans to hang out with Jason and Jennifer before they got married. Skot had planned a big evening with lots of friends but it ended up being just the four of us and their band's drummer, Jay. Wasn't a bad night at all though. We started out with Laser Tag, and then went out to eat. After that Skot and Jason and I hung out at Jason's new place for a few hours just doing nothing. It was good to hang out and do nothing.
Friday Carey and his girlfriend Holly came up, we hung out for a bit, went to get coffee, went to walmart, watched some of How to Irritate people, nice evening.
Saturday I went down, got Carey and Holly, and we went to Jason's wedding in Lafitte, LA. It was a nice wedding though a bit warm outside. After the wedding the three of us and Skot hung out for a bit, watched Signs. Nice day. Seeing friends get married is always nice.
Tuesday I went down, got Skot, got Carey, and we met Kim and Anya at the mall in New Orleans. After a bit of just hanging out chatting we went to the Lakefront and did more of the same there. Got some great pics: HTTP://photo.platypi007.net/081203/
Wednesday I presented the organ from the school to the church and they went for it. We will have an Allen organ, far superior to the Hammond we have which is falling apart, for $500. Rock on! I can't wait for the dedication service which Christopher will play!
Today I went to New Orleans again and hung out with Anya. Aside from spending too much money it was a good day. First stop was BestBuy to get a router because ours died last night. Got one for $40, not bad. After that we went to eat so we could be inside - it was a hot, hot day and my car's AC doesn't work great these days. Then we went to the lakefront and walked a bit and got very hot, went to old Metairie to cool off with SNOW BALLS! Mmmmm, my fav stand near the church I used to go to. I got a chocolate one with condensed milk. Mmmmm.
After that we went to Boarders and wasted time there. I bought Fluxx, a great card game Anya has. We went to CC's to play it and drink coffee. Then we went to the Quarter and spent time in Virgin Records where I bought Arvo Pärt's Passio (St. John Passion) for $6.99. When I checked out the guy at the register shocked me by having a more diverse taste in music than the current indie bands, he actually knew who Pärt was and was a fan of his music! We then proceeded to have a short conversation of minimalism, classical music, and the lack of availability of good recordings ad most music stores, including (now) Virgin and he told me that he wanted to change that.
Anya and I then walked around the pretty much closed Quarter, bought a couple of post cards, and left. I took her home as it was midnight already, and drove the long, lonely two hour drive back to the burg.
Ah, a good week.
