First staging rehearsal was tonight for Les Contes d'Hoffman. It was all guys because the prologue and the first part of the epilogue is all guys in a tavern drinking, singing songs, and listening to Hoffman tell his stories, the three acts in between being those stories.

I had forgotten how much fun staging is. Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. Now if I could just learn my French!

Becca owns a house. Cool stuff.

I went over today to try to take out the weed problem in the back yard, but the weed eater was broken. Got home and fixed it and found out that the power cord was dangerously broke. Fixed that too. Guess I'll go back tomorrow.

Also I bought her a good, cheap, 8" chef's knife with a forged blade, a pairing knife, a cutting board, and a rice cooker.

In other news: Karaoke night is no more. After receiving a million phone calls from BMI, Robert or Carla talked to them and learned that it's illegal without getting a BMI license (or ASCAP or whatever the other one is). That is so awesome.

I found NOAA's aerial survey of New Orleans after the levees broke.

It's sort of hard to track down specific locations because of the lack of specific streets on the map and the trouble with identifying rooftops. I did manage to find the seminary. Also found the area around our old church there and one of our piano teacher's house in Metairie.

The survey doesn't have photos of every inch of the city, just lines across it, some stuff was left out. Actualy, I found a picture that shows the front end of the church and one that shows the back edge of the parking lot, so it doesn't miss much in there.

Anyway, here is a picture of the seminary (warning: it's 823k so it will take a while on dialup). I circled it in red, and I marked the two place we lived and circled the library in which I worked. All the buildings with yellow dots were built in the last 4 years or so, and the one with the red dot is the building William Carey built in the last year.

I heard there was about 20 feet of water at the back of the campus but it's possible that the library books escaped much damage as that building is on a higher part of the campus and is about 4' off the ground anyway.
