It's 1am and someone is playing bingo outside with a loudspeaker. Who plays bingo in a neighborhood at 1am with a loudspeaker?? Who plays bingo at 1am with a loudspeaker outside, anywhere??

Today someone called the shop and ordered one business card. One. Not a proof so they could make an order, they had a meeting this afternoon and needed a business card. So we charged her $15 and printed a sheet of them (12).

Odd, odd, odd...

Another lady this week had us print some wedding invitations. She had gotten a kit somewhere and it had some cardstock that you were supposed to print on and some vellum that you are supposed to attach to the cardstock with ribbon to prevent offsetting of the ink.

This lady, however, had us print on the vellum... I'm not sure why you would want something printed on vellum. The press did not like the vellum but Bobby managed to get it to work, somehow.

People are strange.

I don't know if Jason reads my blog, but I will make him read it just for this post. He has always liked to find signs with abuse of the English language. Well, today I got home and the lawn guys had left their little checklist of what they did today. I had never seen the list so I took a look at it and this is the text of said checklist:

Daily law service check list
-----------------------------
___Edging walk, curbing and driveway etc;
___Trimming hedge on a as needed basis.
___Weedeat all area's that need weeding
___Picking-up all debris. paper, limb's and pinecones.
___Mowing grass to the specific height.
___Raking all area's that need raking, under shrubs etc;
___Weedeat between brick walk-way and drive-way.
___Blow all debris down the drive-way toward the street to be pick-up.
___Blow patio debris away from the house and blow away from doors etc;

All lines must be X when yard is completed.

Yours

Owener:

Everything is exactly as it is in the list, nothing was altered except for removing his last name since I'm sure he wouldn't want someone pointing out his butchery of the English language on the internet and including his full name. :)

Also of note is that it says that everything should have an X beside it but they put check marks.

Men rob Columbia County credit union, bank

Well, the bank they robbed after robbing the credit union is the one next to R. Gabriel's, the coffeeshop my sister works in and I used to work in, just down the road from where I work and it's the bank I use most because the branch here in North Augusta is insufferably slow.

I like to eat lunch at the coffeeshop sometimes, get something to drink and maybe a muffin or something to go with it, get out of the shop where I work for a while. So today as I was driving down Washington Road, about to turn into the parking lot of the coffeeshop just before the intersection with Davis Road I noticed a sherrif's car sitting in front of the law office between the coffeeshop and the bank and then I saw a police car in front of Fitness Plus which is in the same building as the coffeeshop.

I just figured there had been an accident or something. Then an unmarked car with lights flashing pulled through the intersection, bypassing the parking lot entrance just pulling up over the curb. The officer in the car that was already in the parking lot pulled out a sniper rifle about this time and I decided I would not turn into the parking lot there and made my way to the light and turned onto Davis as quickly as I could.

I hesitated to pull into the coffeeshop at all but figured there were a few brick walls between that and the bank to protect me inside. :)

Most of the crazy customers at the shop were standing outside watching the action. I dont think it smart to stand outside when there is a possible standoff! :)

Anyway, that was the excitement here for the day. They still haven't found the guys.

Single origin Chocolate.

So I had not really realized that there was a growing popularity in the single-origin chocolate business. I know that wine has had this down for a while. The coffee business has been moving in that direction for at least a decade and possibly a bit longer.

Single origin coffee really is a wonderful thing, the flavour differences that come from a bean grown in one country (or just another plantation in the same country) really are amazing.

Recently I have been tuning my chocolate pallate. I had been happily eating Hershey's milk chocolate for years thinking, "Man this stuff really is some good chocolate." Then I started eating Dove dark chocolate and wasn't able to eat the Hershey's as much. Then came Ghiradelli dark chocolate and their 60% cocoa bars. I began buying one of these bars and eating a small amount off it each night. It's cheaper and better for you than eating a whole Hershey bar, anyway!

For Easter mom gave us Lindt 70% cocoa bars and she had a 72% Ghiradelli bar (the Lindt is better regardless of the fact that it has 2% less cocoa, it's got a brighter flavour to it). I have found out that Lindt has an 85% bar, I MUST try it. THEN I will have to venture into the world of single-origin chocolates.

May as well. I can no longer enjoy a cup of cheap coffee, why should I be able to enjoy cheap chocolate? :)

So Friday my sister's boyfriend/my friend Mike called me up and said that he was going up to Atlanta on Saturday to help our friend Mike and his wife move into their place there. (Mike Roderick and his wife have decided to move to Atlanta and are living in the other half of the duplex in which his friend Eric lives in with his wife and her kids and which Roderick lived in with Eric before either of them were married and before he went to Boston for a while and then Kentucky.)

So, it having been since Roderick's wedding that I had seen him, and since the fall that I had taken any sort of road trip I said of course I'd love to come help unload the truck. So yesterday afternoon Mike and I set off for Atlanta. About half an hour into our two-and-a-half hour trip we got a call from Becca (my sister) telling us that she could have come with us, had she gone in to work that morning and found out that the girl whose shift she was taking over for that evening wasn't going to need to switch any longer. Alas, she hadn't done that so she had to work last night. Sad.

We had clear roads most of the way except for a short bit of congestion just outside Conyers (Conyers, GA is now where the eastern edge of the Atlanta Metropolitan area starts. This is growing probably by the hour, however, and will soon be moved to the edge of Georgia. In fact, most of central and part of northern Georgia will one day have to be renamed as the state of Atlanta. I'm sure Augusta will then become the capital of Georgia, whats left of northern Georgia can be divided up amongst Tennessee, North and South Carolina. South Georgia will be a state to itself. This would really suck because most of south Georgia sucks except for the coast.) which ended up being due to a terrible looking wreck involving a small economy car and a tractor-trailer carrying sacks of concrete mix. The tailer was on it's side, the car was smashed, and people were having to unload the sacks before the trailer could be righted. Anyway, that was the only slow-down we encountered and we ended up arriving at the Roderick's place just as they were pulling up. Seriously, they had just pulled into the drive way as we pulled up.

So we opened the truck up, carefully so as to not let the TV (which was strategically placed right at the back door of the truck) fall out. Then we decided to eat and ate leftovers at the Myers' place (the other unit of the duplex. The one where Mike lived with Eric before either of them had gotten married and before Mike had moved to Boston and later Kentucky) and then unloaded the truck.

This wasn't as big a job as I had pictured it being. The reason for this is that I am used to moving my family and my family has been established for quite a number of years and has six members and a dog. So there is a lot more furniture, clothing, and other assorted and sundry items to pack and move. The Roderick's had the small truck and though it was packed full it wasn't a terrible lot of stuff.

I still do not envy the next few weeks in their life as they organize their new place, but it wasn't as bad as when my family moves. And we had two Mikes, a Jennifer, an Erick, and me helping to unload so it went fairly quickly. After we got it unloaded we had cake and low-fat frozen yoghurt at the Myers' house and were out of there by about ten after ten. We got home around quarter 'til one this morning.

So, that was my yesterday. Good times.
