Alton Brown
Wow... They just had the first episode of Celebrity Kitchen Makeover on FoodTV and it was the Alton Brown one. Wow... I want AB to come remodle my kitchen... Gosh, the kitchen was so ugly, outdated, and useless before and now it's just... amazing. And they have a Kitchenaid mixer on this little shelf that hides in the cabinet below it... Wow... Just... Wow...
And the lady whose kitchen they did got to be in a Good Eats ep (She was one of the FDA people).
They even got to go shopping with AB. And she got to go to AB's culinary alma matter. Just... Wow. Wow.
Soooo insanely jealous am I.

My sister is buying a house! Well, a townhouse, but it's a house! I went with her to see it while it was being inspected.
It's a nice place, good size for her and a great price. The inspection went well and there were only a few minor things that needed to be taken care of and the owner seemed like she would do those willingly. (Ground fault outlet that doesnt work, AC needs servicing, that sort of thing.) Dad says it's about the size of the hosue we lived in before we moved to New Orleans all those years ago.
She's closing on the second of next month and will move in sometime in the middle of the month (she's scheduling her move-in around two friends' schedules because she helped them move and demands that they do the same for her -- what are friends for? :)
So sometime I'll have to cook a meal for her in her new house. It's a two story, two bedroom 1.5 bath place. It has a fairly good sized back yard compared to other units in the same place. Good location, all that jazz.
I need to get on with my life, finnish up school, get a real job, get a wife, get a house. Yep.

New Checkcard!
Yeah, so you might remember hearing about that credit processor's reccords being violated or whatever. Mine was one of the possibly comprimised accounts. Today I got my new card.
I was able to test out my paper shredder today, it shreds cards just fine. It's fun to shred things.
Yes, yes, I know white wine goes with chicken and fish and red goes with beef. I don't have any white, though.
Rice Cooker Goodness
I don't know if I mentioned that I bought a rice cooker on Sunday, but I did. It's a wonderful invention -- throw in some rice, water, and salt and push the button and forget about it. It cooks the rice perfectly then switches to warm mode. It'll stay on forever that way and keep rice warm for hours and hours. You can throw some veggies into the steam basket on top and you've got an instant meal.
Sunday night i used to to make rice for the curry I cooked. (Yellow thai curry with tofu, onion, and bell pepper.) Today I used to to cook rice, steam some carrots and beans, while I cooked up a chicken breast with some mushrooms and onions in some red wine, olive oil, and chicken broth.
I also made one of those tasty indian cucumber salads. The ones with the yogurt. They are great. Yumm.
Boring post time because I am boring and bored:
So I was doing my grocery shopping Sunday night after church and I bought some crackers to eat cheese on. I'm not a huge fan of Triscuits, Wheat Thins, Ritz, or Saltines so I stick to the Carr's crackers. I usualy get the water crackers with pepper but they were a bit peppery for my tastes the last time so I wanted something that was just whole wheat. Well I got the Whole Wheat Crackers. I opened them today and they are not at all what I thought they would be. They thick, as thick as say... a ginger snap. They are semi-sweet. It's like eating a semi-sweet whole grain cookie. Weird. They are good. Not so good with cheese, but good.
Klasinc&Loncar Duo (Just trying to help it get picked up by Google spiders, I maintain it for them)
