Bobby Flay wins the first victory for America in the battle of the masters, and he remains undefeated after going up against the original iron chefs three times now. And one of those victories included his cutting his finger and getting electrocuted.

Tomorrow night (after a replay of tonight's shows): Morimoto vs. Batali.

Our guys have to go against Sakai and Morimoto, they're good.

I would just like to take a moment to state three facts:

1) Alton Brown rocks
2) So does Iron Chef
3) Mario Batali, as well

What do you get when you mix all three? Iron Chef America. Yes, my friends, tonight is the first episode of Iron Chef America. Alton Brown is the commentator, Mario is one of the Iron Chefs.

This promises to be fun.

Right now the "behind the scenes" making of commentary by Alton Brown is airing.

You may return to your normally scheduled programming now.

Well, well, what fun. Today I get to work at 6am to find all the lights off and the doors locked, no one there. Darin, who was supposed to open was nowhere in sight, and I had no number to contact him so I was forced to call my dear, poor sister and awaken her from her slumber. I got her key and her manager card from her and I called Darin on his cellphone, the only number she has for him that's current since he just moved (last week) out the country. Well, since he LIVES out in the country the cellphone doesn't work (how well I know his plight, from the short time spent at my parents' house, and some of the time on William Carey's campus!!)...

So I get in and start the opening, almost an hour later than it should have been started, at 6:30. Gotta get my drawer counted in, gotta get coffee going, gotta get pasteries out, gotta get the place unlocked and turned on... All of these things usualy begin before we open, however today I had to deal with it WHILE helping customers. Fun stuff.

About 7 I get a call from Carla (owner) and she says she'll come in. About 7:30 I get a call from Darin informing me that he just woke up and is on his way in (like 45 minutes for him to drive now, instead of the 15 it was when he lived in the northern augusta (which, is really more like north east from augusta and not in the same state).

Ah well, survived the morning, it didn't get CRAZY until Darin got in and then we had myself, darin, AND carla working.

So I survived.

Then I went to the body shop. Why did I go to the body shop? Because of yesterday, that is why. I was leaving work, sitting half in the road, waiting for the car at the stop sign behind the shop to pull into the main road when a truck backed out of Cal... Caldwalader's? I think that's the spelleing, 'tis a resteraunt across the road from us. He was parked partly behind a curb and when he gunned it to get over the curb he went too far, too fast, and smack right into the front of my poor little Honda Accord with his big manly Dodge Durango (or however it's spelled, I'm horrible with the spelling of these proper nouns, aren't I? Anyway, it was clearly his fault and so his insurance will pay for the damage.

Damage tally: Cracked bumper, bent hood, shattered headlight lense, all on the driver side.

Preliminary appraisal: $1400.

I can take it in monday and have it all fixed, which would probably make my car all one colour (at the moment it's mostly the standard honda blue, with teal fenders and hood and a purple front bumper). Or I could get the check, replace the headlight myself, and have money. Money to put away for when I need a new car, or money to help with graduate school. Mom and dad told me to wait to decide, and they'll offer their opinion as well (and really, it's their car, my car is becoming a garden in my parents' back yard as time marches on).

My only concern is will the hood close after I open it? If it will, then I could care less of the appearance of my car. I drove that '86 Honda around with a big dent in the door for a couple of years and didn't care. I just always make sure to let people know that the damage is not my fault. (That was done before I bought it, as was the damage that has caused the current Honda to be tri-coloured.)

So, anyway, thats how things stand.

I need to do laundry. I want to mess in my garden some more, and I need to pot a plant. Getting off work at 11 is nice.

Oh, speaking of hours worked and money. Yeah, the short shift sucks for my income, but I worked two long ones this week putting me at 19 hours or so this week. But that wasn't what I was going to say. Got my paycheck yesterday (which I used to open a local bank account) and noticed it was still being figured at $5.25/hr, and since Carla was around I mentioned it to her and she said that she had overlooked the fact that I was supposed to have gotten a raise and that she would remedy that and check the files, which I interpret to mean that I will get back pay for the whole time I was supposed to have had a raise. Yay! Money!

In opening said bank account I got to see my credit report, which while I have had no credit cards before and having been late quite a few times on some bills I have a really good one she said. Almost one of the highest she's seen, she said. I was well pleased.

But to see all those student loans on there is slightly depressing. One day I will have no debt and I'll have money to live on. :)

Bye for now!

The trip to Mississippi was great! Though, hardly a restful vacation! :D

I went to work Thursday morning at 6am, and I worked until 2:30pm. From there I left to get my sister at her place of residence, gas up the car, and hit the road. I was exausted and when we stoped for dinner west of Atlanta I let her drive and I actually managed to get about an hours sleep in the car!! This is highly unusual for me. I did, however, drive from Tuscaloosa on. We got in around 9:30 at my parents' house.

Friday I woke late, 11:30, and had lunch with the family. Then Becca and I departed for the Carey of William somewhere around 1. We saw Shar and Dr. Winters, and whoever popped into the office, we saw Daniel (who was hiding from the faculty because he hadn't turned in his portfolio), and then we went looking to see who else we could find in the music building, and found Katie Roberts in her mother's office, skipping school. She informed us she was the cow for Into the Woods, and proceded to be Katie Roberts, a very unique and cute girl who is older than she should be (she should be 8, the age she was when I met her, of course).

We left campus after Becca dropped her stuff off at Steph's place, and we got in touch with Mr. Dodd, and met him at his place of employment (Books a Thousand) and chatted with him and a couple of fellow employees there for a bit, and saw Sam Brealand. Fun stuff. Ate dinner, had coffee with Mr. Dodd and then went to see the show.

GREAT production, most wonderful. Yes. Long, and I can't imagine how exausted everyone must have been. Another of those kids who should still be 8: Rhianna.

Went to Buffalo Wild Wings for a late snack with Mr. Springstead, Mr. Dodd, Mr. Lovely, Mr. Dale, Miss Crumbley, Miss Crystal, and my sister. Had fun there until 2am when they chased us off. Slept at the Lovely one's apartment.

The next day was spent with Becca and Haley, we went to Julie's place and saw her and her baby and her dog and her boy, and Mike Springstead. Good times were had by all. Then we departed for Picayune and the Skot's house, where we hung out with the Skot, the Carey, and the Jason (we: Becca, me, Haley) for a good long while. And fun was had by all. Another kid who should still be 8: Jiffer.

Stayed at the Lovely one's apartment again Saturday night and Sunday went to Westminster Pres with becca, sang in the choir, had lunch with the Roberts family at Mcalisters. Mmmm good food.

Sunday night was spent with our family, monday we drove home.

Today I worked the long shift, 6am till 1:30 (new long shift, not as long as the old long shift) and then I gardened. Actually I messed with watering systems, put a soak hose in my garden and drip system on the potted plants. I'll probably still just use a hose most of the time, but whenever grandma waters her lawn they'll get watered too.

I like playing in the dirt.
