Oh yes, lime juice and cilantro, too.

Hello! It's been a while.

I haven't read my most recent post to see what I said so I'll just give a basic all-around update.

The house buying of my parents still has not happened but it is going to happen. The "For sale" sign out front is even down. Joyce just spends a lot of time out of town so she hasn't been around much. Not sure when the deal will go down.

Last weekend was my sister and Mike's concert at the coffeeshop, good times! You can read more about it on their respective blogs which I will not link to because I'm lazy. I keep meaning to add a list of friend's blogs and such to this site but I dont.

Mike's is springstead.livejournal.com and becca's is kaffeemadchen at the same. Yes, you have to copy and paste.

This whole month has been pretty slow as both choirs are on break and I don't do a whole lot else. Two saturdays ago the AC here broke. I stayed here Saturday night (as it was after midnight when I got home from my parents' house and I didn't feel like treking back over there). By Sunday morning it was in the mid 80s (inside).

Lunch at my parents' house was enjoyable and cool but I returned home to take care of some errands (grocery shopping and the like) and it just got hotter and hotter. That evening it was around 90 inside and I packed up some stuff and went to my parents' house to stay. The AC repairman had come and needed to order a part. I figured that by Tuesday the house would be cool again.

I could have chosen to stay with my sister as she has an extra bed and better AC than my parents AND she has insulation. But she ALSO has the evil devil cat from hell.

Stayed that night, and the next. Tuesday we found out that the order hadn't been put in until THAT MORNING. That evening on my way back to my house from work to grab lunch again (since my parents' fridge is so full I just kept all my food at this house) my car started overheating -- the radiator had burst. Actualy, the radiator is cheap and the top is made of plastic and was full of dozens of small cracks. Argh!

Wednesday I got a new radiator and put it on while the AC man was putting the new motor into our AC. It was around 7:30pm before he got it fixed so the house would still be hot that night. I got my radiator in and changed the oil and was done by 9pm. I had probably sweated two galons of water by this point -- I usualy choose NOT to do car work on the hottest week of the year but I had no choice.

I chose to stay at my parents' house one more night since a) it was still in the upper 80s in my house, and b) all my stuff was over there and it would have taken me a while to get it together. It already being after 10pm I didn't wish to do that.

Oh, did I fail to mention that every day our AC was broken the thermometer hit 100 or above? Two days after it was fixed it cooled off to low 90s again.

So Thursday saw me with a working car and a cool house again.

Mostly since then life has been boring and uneventful again. Though, the last two evenings and this one have been filled. Last night there was a dinner for my parish from the church. I made up a black bean salad on the spur of the moment after work yesterday to take to this since I only found out about this on Wednesday and I was too busy with work and other stuff to fix anything. It turned out pretty good but it's much better today now that the flavours have had a chance to mingle better.

I mixed a can of corn, a can of black beans, some chopped tomatoe, chopped onion, chopped red bell pepper, some diced anaheim pepper (would have used something hotter if it was just for me), some green onion and... I spiced it with some cumin, salt, and pepper, mixed in some rice... I think that is all I put in it. Anyway, it is yummy. I can't tell you measurements on anything except I used two cans of each of the canned things and about 6 plum tomatoes, one bell pepper and half an onion. I also used about 2 cups uncooked rice (I cooked it). I think it was two cups. It might have been a cup and half. I was just making this stuff up on the fly.

So last night was fun.

Tonight is my friend Katherine's wedding. Yay, more food!

Church choir starts up next week and ACS the week after that so things should be back to normal a bit and I wont be quite as bored.
