What Nick had for dinner: (or rather, is having for dinner as he types this)

Chicken, browned braised in a little merlot with some onions. Seasoned with pepper, oregano, and thyme.

Mashed sweet potatoes seasoned with a touch of salt and some fresh ground cinnamon.

Sauteed asparagus with a touch of salt and some balsamic vinegar sprinkled on it.

Rice with a gravey made with the onions and juices from the chicken, a little more merlot, some butter and flour.

Mmmmmmm...

Last night I sang at a small local Episcopal church where one of the Altos from the Choral Society is the director of music, with their All Saint's Day choral Evensong service. They have but one bass in the choir and he was unable to make it so she paid me $100 to help them out. Being paid to sing is great!

It was interesting, my first time in an Episcopal church. We had dinner before the service (the choir did) and wine was included. Not something I'm used to. And the service was unlike anything I've been involved in before, too. Lots of ametrical stuff, the semi-chant stuff where the priest of whatever they call him in the Episcopal church, chants something and the choir responds with a bit of music. And they said the Apostle's Creed on pitch, monotone. We sang a psalm that was something of an ametrical chant. It was quite interesting.

Also interesting was that one of the two tenors there is my friend Rich, who I know from Augusta Opera stuff.
