Ah, it's been a while since I updated this thing (I don't even know how long since I haven't taken the time to check before typing this up) and I figure I should (especially since someone has said they're going to be checking up on my blog since they hadn't in a while and I checked up on theirs). So here goes.

Right now I'm watching britcoms and being sleepy. Today I worked and then farted around town for a while. Mostly I was looking around at car stereos as my FM radio went out a few weeks ago (and I really miss my NPR) and this morning when I left for work my CD player was no longer working. AM radio only? Not my cup o' tea (no, that'd be Earl Grey, or maybe a nice Dejerling) so much, even more so since I can't find anything but sports or southern gospel stations (and one CCM station) on our AM dial. I know there are a couple of talk stations but I can't seem to get them to come in. Well, the CD player worked a couple of times today, but it keeps going out. Time to get a new system, eh. It's a piece of junk, anyway. About two years ago it started turning itself up all the way at random times, inconvenient that is. Piece of junk, it is.

I got my car washed today. There was a group having a carwash in the parking lot up front of our shop and I know one of the guys who was involved with it, a karate class that is raising money to do something for a family at Christmas, so I let them wash my car and gave them some money. Not that I much care about my car being clean, but something someone has been doing near the shop recently (not sure if it's Steve, the guy who runs the fitness shop up front or the guys doing work over at the bank, or the guys doing work at the building between us and the bank) that makes this white dust. Well, it's all over my car again, even after getting it cleaned. This is why I don't wash my car, it'll just get dirty again and after all, who cares if a tri-coloured car with rust spots, dents, peeling topcoat, and paint wearing away is clean? I sure don't. But it was for a good cause, eh?

My parents are moving here. No, I know you all know this if you have read my recent posts (recent? I don't know if you can really call them recent so much...) but it's just... A little over a week and my parents will be living here. Not here though – we thought they would be living here for a while but not now and this is a good thing. Anyway, here is the latest news on all of that:

They had started the process of buying a house near Lake Olmstead a couple of weeks ago after a short (two day) visit to check it out. However, they rushed into it (rather unusual for dad, in matters like this) and were feeling quite unsatisfied with the whole thing after the fact... They hired a guy to inspect the house and he found out there was some pretty bad structural damage, rot, and mold and mildew so they got out of that deal. Also found out it was in the flood plane, so that put them having to buy flood insurance, too, and also makes the property not worth as much to sale (they plan to buy a place they can fix up and sale it for a profit).

So, they don't have a place to move into in a month. They had planned to stay with us (my grandmother and me) while they painted it and then move in. So then they were thinking of living here until they could find another house, but they have since found out they can rent a trailer in Beech Island (not an island, not a beach) for $300 a month for as long or as short a time as they are in need from someone we know. Good stuff. So one week from this coming week they will pack up a small u-haul trailer and dad's truck and move down to that trailer with a minimum of things and live out of boxes, on temporary like beds, folding chairs, card tables, etc., until they find a house (probably be the start of next year). One week. Wow.

I'm glad my dad is going to be at this church. Not only because I will have my wonderful family living within minutes of me (15 or 20 for now, shorter in time, I think) and my wonderful little sisters to spend time with, but because I think that this will be a good place for him to be (the church moreso than the town, really, though living near both grandmothers is good for them, too). I think that he'll be able to do a lot with this one. Not saying that there was no purpose of their time in Butler, God has it all in His plan of course, but just this one is in a good position to do something, not just to... exist.

Oh! And another thing! Since they won't really have a place for Goldie... We get to keep her here!!! I've been wanting a dog lately (a Welsh Corgi, to be exact) but I just don't think I need to get one, as I don't know for sure what I'll be doing in a year or where I will be, etc., so now I will be able to have a dog without having to OWN a dog so much! Sweet action!

Ok, so in the life of Nick of late. Well, nothing much has changed. Still working at the shop as a manger. Still wanting something else (more money, normal hours... that sort of thing). Still singing in Augusta Choral Society and we have a concert coming up in two weeks from this past Friday (Fauré Requiem, Vivaldi Gloria, Lotti Crucifixus) which my wonderful family will be coming to (along with ALL of our concerts as my wonderful grandmother bought them all season tickets!) and if any of you are in the area of Augusta on the 22nd you should come along, as well (tickets are $20) as it's seriously going to rock. Still singing in the First Pres choir (Christmas Evensong coming up in a couple of months and I'm singing the baritone solo in the Vaughan Williams Fantasia on Christmas Carols. Rock on!

As for my plans... Well, I need to get in touch with USC as they never e-mailed me back about my application stuff. And... I might be leaning towards musicology again instead of choral conducting.... Errrrr, I just can't make up my freaking mind! *sigh* Double masters degree anyone? Am I a glutton for punishment?

Well, this is to nearly two pages in my word processor, so it'll be a nice long one for you all to read. Hmm.... Just over 1200 words (everything before "Just over 1200 words" is 1200 words). Sweet action, eh! Moo!
