So half.com has decided not to close down. They said that, though e-bay experienced a large increase in sales this quarter, they did not have a decrease in sales and decided it would be worth while to continue operation.

I'm watching a show on History about road and highway design. I never quite realized quite how much research, trial-and-error, and such went into the designing of even just the guard rails and signs that we have now.
I also never realized that a mailbox could decapitate you! They showed a slow motion video of someone running into a row of them, the posts got taken out but the boxes stayed basicaly where they were, going through the car. Fun stuff.
I'm a nerd.

Well, I haven't really updated in a few days so here goes, the short, short version:
Mom and dad are moving down here, but haven't found a house yet. Thursday Butler was hit by the hurricane (gusts up to 100mph reported there, the eye wasn't very far from them). Got a call from one of their church members Friday saying that there was a tree on dad's truck and one on the house, the power was out for most of the county. Mom and dad decided to stay through Sunday.
Mike Springstead got in about midnight on Friday and we spent a while in the den talking with him and my family. The next day we (me, him, becca) went out to eat at the White Elephant Cafe, a great place to eat indeed. After that we walked around downtown for a while then he and I left for Savannah to go to the wedding of someone I do not know. (A friend of his, the reason for his trip.) It was in a beautiful old Episcople church down in the historic district. The reception was in a beautiful hotel downtown with lots of great food.
Sunday was spent with Mike and Becca, church then lunch outside at the Pizza Joint, stayed there till after 2.
Yesterday I worked in the morning and was tired. Today I worked in the morning and was tired. I picked up some veggie lo mein and a couple of spring rolls at Formosa's and drove to Riverview park (where you can not view the river) and sat and ate some while I talked to mom.
Their phones got hooked back up last night, temporarily (the pole is down at the road). The trees on the house and truck had been cut off by the time they got home Sunday night and there is no damage to the truck or house. The deck was smashed some, and an outbuilding was smashed, along with the girls' swingset, but otherwise everything was ok. There are LOTS of big trees down in their yard, though. The basement, of course, flooded. But it always does that.
So, things are mostly good for them, they just gotta find a house.
Tonight was Agusta Choral Society, great stuff! I love singing!
The weather is sooooo amazingly wonderful!
Klasinc&Loncar Duo (Just trying to help it get picked up by Google spiders, I maintain it for them)
