So, went to New Orleans with my sister this afternoon to see our friend Bekah’s senior recital. There I saw a lot of old friends from my New Orleans days. I also saw a music minister/the dean of music at New Orleans Seminary.
I told him of my plans after graduation.. Or at least my desire, to go to Indiana University and get a masters of arts in musicology with a masters of library science. I also told him I wasn’tsure how that was going to work out. Right now I am looking at having to work for the SBC (Southern Baptist Convention) for two and a half years out of obligation for a scholarship I get and it would be a bit harder to find a church to work in near the school up there than it would down here. And then there’s student loans too.
Well, he made a comment along the lines of, “We need a music librarian at NOBTS, why not come work for us and we could pay for you to get a MLIS at LSU.” I didn’t really take him serious but he said it again about five times while I was there so I really think he was.
I’m in shock. And I’m really seriously considering this.
